My approach to Counselling
What I have found in my years of supporting people, is that everyone needs something different, which is why my therapeutic approach is holistic. This simply means that I use a number of different psychotherapy methods. There is not one approach or style that works for everyone, or for every situation. I do my best to customize therapy to the individual I am supporting. Some psychotherapy techniques I use include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Solutions Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
Service Delivery Method:
I provide counselling both in person, and virtually (e-counselling), such as through video call. There are studies that have shown online therapy to be as effective as in person therapy, such as the one published in the the Journal of Affective Disorders (www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/07/130730091255.htm).

At this time, I provide counselling services for individuals 19 years of age and older. Please note that social workers do not diagnose mental illness.

- increased flexibility with meeting times and locations
- no travelling required
- video counselling requires stable internet connection and sufficient internet speed so you will need to ensure you are in a confidential space (could be overheard by others)
- consider any information tracked or left to be seen on your computer or phone after the counselling session is done, which could be seen by others
